Keep Your Smile in Its Place

After you successfully complete Invisalign treatment, you can be proud of your accomplishment! However, in order for you to maintain your freshly straightened smile, you still have a bit of work to do. You will have to wear retainers! These custom appliances can keep your smile in its place so you can go on enjoying the results of Invisalign indefinitely.

Why Are Retainers Necessary After Invisalign Treatment?

Retainers are necessary after Invisalign treatment because without them, your teeth could start to drift back into their former positions. Teeth have a sort of “memory,” and without a bit of pressure to prevent them from shifting, they could quickly start to move out of place and undo your hard-won Invisalign results.

How Orthodontic Retention Works

After you finish Invisalign treatment, our team will take a digital scan of your teeth and order a set of retainers for you. We provide Vivera retainers, which look very similar to Invisalign aligners, except they are a bit thicker and designed to last for a longer period of time.

Once you receive your retainers, you should wear them as close to 24/7 as possible, only removing them to eat and take care of your oral hygiene.

After a period of about three months, you may be able to start wearing your retainers only at night. For the best results, nightly retainer use should become a permanent part of your routine. (If you ever notice that your retainers seem unusually tight, that is a sign you are not using them enough.)

Cost of Orthodontic Retention

A set of retainers is included with your initial Invisalign fee. Every once in a while, they may need to be replaced. Our team will talk to you about special pricing to make replacement as affordable as possible.
